Property code: KT011

Pretty fisherman’s cottage offering thoughtfully updated accommodation for four guests, situated in the North Norfolk seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea, just a short walk from the town quay.

This cottage is located in the North Norfolk town of Wells-next-the-Sea, a pretty seaside town with its traditional fishing quay, the range of shops, and a wide choice of places to eat. The town’s sandy beach is edged by colourful beach huts and is part of the Holkham Estate, backed by pine woodland and dunes. In fact, at low tide it is possible to walk around to the huge beach at Holkham Bay which featured in the Ben Affleck film ‘Shakespeare in Love’. The quay which is still home to a working fishing fleet is a great place to try your luck at crabbing, or to take a boat trip around the harbour or alternatively around the salt marshes, a wonderfully peaceful journey which is a real treat for those with an interest in wildlife.

The front door of this pretty cottage opens directly into the lounge, a cosy space with comfortable seating, a TV/DVD in the lounge, and a fireplace with a wood burner-effect electric fire. From here a step leads through to the kitchen/diner which has a dining table seating four and a good range of equipment including an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine. Moving back through to the lounge, guests will find a staircase which leads to the bedrooms on the first floor of the cottage. The first of these is a double room with a 4’6” bed and a built-in wardrobe, whilst the second bedroom is a cosy twin room. The bathroom is also situated on the first floor and offers a shower-over-bath and WC.

From the cottage’s kitchen, a stable door leads out to a small enclosed courtyard garden at the rear of the property with established shrub borders, which is furnished with a table, chairs, a parasol, makes a delightful space for enjoying alfresco dining. There is off-road parking available for one car to the rear of the property and on road parking to the front.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 double and 1 twin
  • 1 bathroom with shower-over-bath and WC
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine
  • 2 dogs welcome
  • Enclosed  small courtyard garden with established shrub borders

The cottage was in a fantastic location on a beautiful road but unfortunately there were many things wrong with the cottage - things that werent working, equipment missing etc. The whole cottage needs TLC and updating.

Good location but in need of a deep clean as was very dirty. Needs updating , bathroom radiator rusty , bathroom taps leaked and grimy. Fridge freezer leaked and froze the food. Needs a general make over.

Well fitted and equipped. Good location for the harbour and town. Adequate parking. We were disappointed in having to thoroughly clean the kitchen and lounge on arrival. In strange contrast, the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom were spotless.

We had a lovely stay here. It is in a great location. There was lots to do in Wells and it was quite busy but the cottage is in a quiet area. The kitchen was very well equipped and we were able to cook family meals easily. The cottage was lovely and cool when returning from a day in the sun. I would happily stay here again.

The cottage is a lovely, comfortable quaint old cottage, ideally situated for access to the town and the harbour and well hidden enough so you get loads of peace.

Well located cottage with the benefit of parking Comfortable sitting room and beds BUT: BOY, IS IT GRUBBY!! Bathroom needs a refresh, too much black grouting and a vinyl floor that is well past its use by date. Kitchen surfaces and cupboards have an unpleasant residual tackiness that suggests that a steam clean is required. I doubt that Holiday CotRead moretages have ever inspected the property and just take the booking fees. Which is disappointing. Hide

The property had not had a thorough clean and the courtyard garden could use a tidy up, location good and peaceful. We vacuumed before we left the property and swept the hearth, cleaned kitchen and bathroom sink. I hope the new visitors found it in a better condition than we did.

Beautiful cottage, perfect for walkers, close to all the amenities and our favourite restaurant The Crab House on the doorstep. Dog friendly and with parking, which is usually a pain when we have stayed in other cottages in Wells, weve been coming for 10 years and will definitely come back to the Barn Owl, lived it.

Location brilliant but bedroom windows grubby, spoiling ambience. The tiredness of the bathroom led to a leak from sink water waste pipes, resulting in water running across the kitchen ceiling, creating a large puddle on the kitchen floor which we had to clean up. Also afraid to use kitchen lights until fixed. Tradesman had to break into boixng-in Read moreto get to pipes which left us with wood and broken tiles mess in bathroom for rest of week.
