Set in a picturesque village in the beautiful Glaven valley, this traditional cottage offers cosy accommodation for a couple or small family looking to enjoy a peaceful retreat in the heart of Norfolk.

The pretty village of Thornage is situated just 3 miles from the popular, historic and bustling market town of Holt, which offers a delightful choice of restaurants, shops and pubs. The nearby Holt Country Park has 100 acres of beautiful woodland to explore. The coast is within easy reach, with the thriving villages of Blakeney and Salthouse just 6 miles away. Among many local attractions are Pensthorpe Natural Park, Castle Acre, and the fantastic nature reserves of Scolt Head and Blakeney Point, which is home to a colony of grey seals. There are numerous charming towns and villages to visit including Fakenham and Wells-next-the-Sea, or you could visit Houghton Hall, Holkham Hall or the royal estate at Sandringham.

Four curved brick steps, with hand rail, lead down from the parking area to the entrance of this lovely, traditional and thoughtfully renovated end-of-terrace cottage. On entering you will find yourself in the welcoming and cosy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Retaining original features including exposed beams and stonework, this room is full of character, and features plenty of comfortable seating as well as a delightful dining area, TV, DVD, digital radio and a traditional wood burner. The kitchen is fully equipped, with an oven, microwave and fridge with ice compartment. Heading upstairs you will find two comfortable bedrooms: a double room with an en-suite shower room, and a single bedroom with an en-suite bathroom.

Approximately 20 metres from the front door is a pretty, enclosed garden with a patio and lawn. It is sheltered and catches the sun in most places throughout the day. The garden has been planted with shrubs and flowers and has garden furniture. Please note the garden is situated between two neighbouring cottages and can only be accessed from the lane and not directly from the cottage. As the garden is separate from the cottage and there are other animals in the area, dogs must not be left unsupervised. Parking for one car is available directly outside the cottage.


Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We had a great break at the cottage. It is very cozy, everything we needed was there, and we were very comfortable. Lovely location close to Holt and the wonderful North Norfolk Coast.

Had the most wonderful holiday with my two young granddaughters. Overall, the cottage was well furnished, the bedrooms were very clean and comfortable and the ensuite bathrooms a real plus. The kitchen had everything one could need. Location wise, there was much to see within a short distance. We also found a couple of pleasant walks nearby.

A lovely little cottage. We loved our stay and felt right at home in the cosy environment. Loved having the outdoor area and enjoyed an evening BBQ. There isn't much in Thornage so you have to go to Holt for supplies but the peace and quiet in the area is worth it. Easy drive to local beaches. Would return again.

A lovely cottage, everything provided and plenty of comfort. We brought bikes and were delighted to find a lockable shed where we could store them. It was lovely to cycle along quiet lanes and see the villages in detail and find lovely pubs. Plenty to do locally in Holt, Cromer and Sheringham.

A quaint, cosy, little cottage with a secluded tiny garden in a delightful part of the country. Initial reaction that it was dark and unwelcoming soon changed once put some lights on and bought some flowers, Would use this cottage again, Lots to do in the area.
