Aylsham is the northern terminus of the Bure Valley Railway, a narrow-gauge steam railway that takes you through the countryside to Wroxham (10 miles), which is the gateway to the Norfolk Broads, where you can hire boats to explore the 125 miles of scenic waterways. A short drive away is the wonderful North Norfolk Coast with its vast beaches and pretty seaside villages and towns that include Holkham, Wells-next-the-Sea and Cley (all within 30 miles). Take a trip to see England’s largest grey seal colony at Blakeney Point just 19 miles away. A short walk from this retreat is the River Bure providing lovely walks or a great place to kayak.

Soak up the wonderful rural landscape all around as you arrive at this converted railway carriage. At one end of this glamping holiday home, there is a handcrafted double bed with storage space above for personal items. Along with stylish additions you also have a kitchenette that offers everything you need to prepare a light snack or a hearty evening meal with a plug-in convection hob, small oven, and a fridge with an ice compartment. The owner can provide a place to freeze anything extra if needed. There’s a basin and WC in the shower room which is accessed via a sliding wooden door and the entire carriage is insulated. An electric heater ensures this cabin is a cosy space all year around.

Outside, there is a gorgeous courtyard area next to a pond, complete with countryside views and ample places to sit and enjoy the evening sun with a drink or two. There is a ‘Hobbit House’ BBQ hut which can be booked by prior arrangement with the owner guests and within the hut is a wonderful fire pit with a chimney that adds something special to this holiday. Once you get used to finding the location it's very easy to get to many places to visit nearby. Aylsham lovely village, Cromer, Great Yarmouth and lots of stunning beaches on your doorstep. We swam at Bacton. Very quiet and water was lovely. National Trust local also. Pubs,Shops and supermarket a plenty within easy reach.

Well executed quirky and stylish accommodation in a very peaceful spot. Do be aware it's quiet because it's remote so no shops or pubs within walking distance and no WiFi. We enjoyed our 4 night stay.

The holiday was just what I wanted, peaceful and quiet. The carriage was really great just as the photos show. The countryside around was really lovely and only a few miles from the beach. I would recommend to anyone, perfect for a single or a couple. Another time I would like to stay in the first. Thanks Jo I enjoyed my stay so much
