Forge Cottage, as the name
suggests, is a conversion of the village forge. Most recently it has been an
artist’s studio but has now been sympathetically renovated with a new hand made
kitchen and newly fitted bathroom suite installed.
A particularly lovely aspect of
this cottage are the views. From the garden, over the owners’ orchard are rural
views of the fields and woods.
Located in a very quiet, unspoilt
rural hamlet just 2 miles from the coast (Blakeney is the nearest) Forge
Cottage is a good cottage to base yourself for all the amenities of this area
(Holt is only 3 miles away) but equally the cottage has all the facilities for
a relaxing, tranquil bolthole. The Blue Bell pub at Langham is about a 30
minute walk away some of which is on a footpath, the rest on quiet roads (good
for cycling too).
Many of the original features
still remain and you enter through one of them - a most imposing ancient wooden
door which opens into the living area. This space has a vaulted ceiling and
views over the garden from the kitchen window. The dining table (seating 4 in
case friends drop by) is in the centre of the kitchen space. The sitting area
has a new and comfortable sofa with an armchair and is grouped around the
woodburning stove. The TV has Freesat & DVD. There is also a Bluetooth radio.
From the living room a door opens
into the inner lobby and from here you access the bedroom and bathroom. The new
bathroom has a ‘P’shaped bath with a shower over and is quite spacious. The bedroom is dual aspect, has a vaulted ceiling and a mixture of new and antique
furniture. The bed is new as is the good quality mattress.
Outside is a newly lawned garden
with an attractive sandstone patio facing North-West with these super rural
views. The garden is secure with closed boarded fencing. Parking is to the
bottom of the garden. If you are coming with a dog, please would you bring
its bedding and, if possible, cage or crate.
